We had an informative and entertaining presentation from Clive, covering the history and processes involved in the development of the silk trade. The presentation included his own painting of the Empress Si Lung-Chi who has been credited with silk’s discovery. We had a relaxed evening with inputs from members and a sharing of ideas as the evening went on. September saw us meeting in Cotteridge for a talk by Ninya Mikhaila about the Black Prince’s Jupon. Ninya recreated the garment for the BBC TV Series a Stitch in Time. The talk was fascinating as Ninya explained that steps she took to recreate an authentic garment using the techniques of the time, not modern techniques.Continue reading “September 2022 meeting”
